Ulsan, Where the Sea and Mountains Embrace You: My Favorite Alleys
A healing time where you can simultaneously encounter the blue sea and deep mountain ranges within a vibrant city of over 1.1 million people.
Let Me Introduce This City
Ulsan might first come to mind with the cold image of an industrial city, but once you walk through it yourself, it reveals a completely different side. The vitality created by over 1.1 million residents coexists with the sea where rough waves of the East Sea crash and the magnificent mountain ranges of the Yeongnam Alps. It is a city well-suited for those who want to escape a busy routine and encounter open, natural landscapes.
The Path This City Has Walked
Defying the title of a heavy industry center that has led the Korean economy for a long time, Ulsan holds a very deep history. Looking just at the national treasure-designated Bangudae Petroglyphs, you can tell it is a land of life where people settled and lived since prehistoric times. The stories of how a fishing village grew into a massive port and industrial city remain intact throughout the city, making it a lot of fun to observe the scenery where the old and the new strangely harmonize.

Nature Enveloping the City
Ulsan is a place where both the sea and mountains hold top-tier titles. The cool East Coast to the east and a massive group of mountains called the 'Yeongnam Alps' to the west cozy up and envelop the city. The Taste and Style of This City
Embracing the sea, Ulsan is packed with elements captivating gourmands' tastes, ranging from fresh seafood to beef dishes boasting a long tradition. In particular, the unique bulgogi culture of the Eonyang region is the essence of localism you must experience. In autumn, festivals unfolding around Taehwagang National Garden will also become wonderful memories heightening the excitement of your trip.

A popular local bakery cafe full of fragrant coffee and sweet bakeries that make you feel good just by looking at them.
Things to Know Before Traveling
Since KTX Ulsan Station is slightly distanced from the downtown center, it is convenient to map out your transit route using city buses or rental cars in advance after arriving at the station. Since natural tourist spots and downtown distances are a bit apart, we recommend planning your schedule with plenty of leisure time. Areas around Taehwagang River and the Dong-gu seaside are well-connected by public transportation, so walking travelers don't need to worry too much!
